Comment:

 Sorry, I will do better report next time although I don't see where to add
 a CC.

 But the point is I really do think it was ds9 that failed. What I did was
 "sudo ports install ds9" and it failed, evidently because it lists
 llvm-3.1 as a dependency. I understand that llvm-3.3 is current so it
 seems to me the problem here is that ds9 is asking for the wrong
 dependency, no fault of llvm.

 I don't know what you mean "and so should you", I am not a maintainer for
 ds9.
