 Thanks for looking into this.

 Regarding these patches, how can we validate them?  Should I be applying
 them on my own ports tree (if so, how, and if something goes wrong, how do
 I check point and roll back?), or is there another mechanism I should use
 (e.g. port selfupdate ...)?
