 FYI.  I had problems with some ports (e.g., gcc42) not building on
 mavericks, apparently due to headers not being found.   My hack was:

 {{{
 mwette$ sudo  ln -s /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer /Developer
 }}}

 I don't know why it worked, but it did.   Using "gcc -x" I found that
 builds were looking under /Developer for headers, in addition to other
 locations.
