 Lately I have had a similar problem.
 I found out that the clang version 3.0 that was installed with Xcode 4.2
 on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8) does not take the environmental
 variables CPATH and LIBRARY_PATH into account (perhaps also all the other
 env vars).
 Maybe this is a similar problem with the used compiler version.
