Sweet, I had been trying to do that but couldn't get it to work

Really? I had kind of wanted them to run automatically when using the
+tests variant, but whatever...

I think I might open a separate ticket for this; I already opened a
similar one one asking for a similar `depends_pkg` type of dependency
(It's #38112 for reference)
