 This happened to me, and I fixed it by noticing that my macports.config
 file had ppc instead of x86_64 set for my architecture.

 -failing-due-to-architecture-problems
 I followed the migration instructions to reinstall everything with x86_64
 and gobject-introspection installed fine.
