 configure.ac contains the macro AM_PROG_CC_STDC, which is not recognized
 by automake. AC_PROG_CC is expected instead, which happens to already be
 in configure.ac. An augmented version of  patch-configure.ac.diff is
 attached which deletes AM_PROG_CC_STDC.
