 Would it be possible to add a port for the SOFA (Standards Of Fundamental
 Astronomy) library?

 There's a C and a Fortran version, Ideally I'd like to have both to
 compare precision / speed, although only the C version would be great
 already.

 I don't actually know if their license allows it to be included in
 Macports, someone please check at http://www.iausofa.org/tandc.html
 (if it's unclear I'd be happy to ask them via email)

 There's also a Python wrapper for it, which would be nice to have:
