 Have you looked into the possibility to add a "boost-gcc" subport? It
 would be ideal to have both gcc-compiled boost (e.g. for mkvtoolnix) and
 clang-compiled boost active at the same time (plus a subport could easily
 be used as a dependency).

 I know that this would add even more work though :-(
