 I have never tried with the g95 port installed, only the gcc compiler
 gfortran versions, which as I said have a name the configure script cannot
 guess.  You might be correct that there is no way to prevent it finding a
 compiler if there with a name it expects. Try removing the g95 port...

 That said, I have never seen compilation issues (using ./configure)
 related to fortran...
