 The temporary workaround works perfectly for me, but it gets blown away
 every time I run a routine MacPorts update check. My solution:

 {
     local dir=`pwd`
     cd
     svn co -r 89205
 http://svn.macports.org/repository/macports/trunk/dports/devel/libsdl
     cd libsdl
     sudo port install
     cd ..
     rm -rf libsdl
     cd $dir
 }
 }}}
