Comment:

 I see no port currently manually setting `OBJCXX`. But that doesn't mean
 no ports would benefit from it. For example, texlive-bin's build system
 uses it, as I reported in #39684. There would be no detriment to adding
 this variable to base, would there? It would make MacPorts more complete.
