 I'm not sure what you mean. I tried to install pTeX. It said it conflicted
 with texlive-common. So I tried to deactivate texlive-common, and was told
 it was needed for another port.

 At this point I had two choices. I could force the deactivation, knowing
 that I did not care about those other ports at that particular moment.
 This is what I chose to do. Are you suggesting that we should not support
 this action, and that instead the user should have known that he should
 uninstall all of texlive just to be able to install pTeX? I don't think
 that's realistic. The `conflicts` keyword should be used to indicate every
 conflict that actually exists, and it should be in both of each pair of
 conflicting ports.
