 Sorry, that I seemingly senselessly posted #39822, but I was completely
 occupied with the litecoin port so that I didn't think about this boost
 issue which I had myself worked around using gcc 4.8.

 OK, you're saying using gcc isn't an option on Snow Leopard... Why is
 clang 3.3 to be preferred?
