 Using the +valgrind option for openmpi fails in the build phase, with a
 large number of errors of the form

 enumerator 'MPI_COMBINER_HINDEXED'
 }}}

 See attached log. Not sure what the cause of this problem is. It happened
 also with -gcc46 or +threads. See full main.log attached.
