 Apart the issue you raised luasocket 2.x is only compatible with Lua 5.1,
 we've since switched to Lua 5.2 and API is broken. Loading the luasocket
 .so built with Lua 5.2 will trigger dlopen() errors.

 We should switch to [https://github.com/diegonehab/luasocket 3.0-rc1] even
 if it's not stable because it is compatible with 5.2.

 At the same time I'd say this ticket acts as port abandoment since the
 maintainer hasn't replied to this or #34799 in more than a year.
