 I would like to add compiler variants to these ports with a revbump, so
 that users who upgrade get the default variant representing the current
 dependency (`+gcc45`). After I close #38232, those users would not be
 forced to install `gcc47`.

 The attached patch ought to do this, if I haven’t screwed up too badly.
