 juman6 @6.01_1 experiences the typical "sed: RE error: illegal byte
 sequence" build error on Mountain Lion:

 As of Mountain Lion, sed is much more strict about the byte sequences in
 the files. It assumes the bytes are in UTF-8 encoding, and displays this
 error when they are not. You must inform sed what the correct character
 encoding is for these files, for example by using the LC_CTYPE environment
 variable.
