OK, I'm not sure how you managed to have a ppc-only version of `tar` on
Mountain Lion, as the normal Mountain Lion `tar` is supposed to be x86_64.
Make sure you have all the latest system updates and stuff installed, and
once you've done this, if you're still running into this problem, try
reinstalling your system from scratch. In any case, this isn't a MacPorts
problem, it's a problem with your OS being hosed.
