 Thanks that's interesting, the software I was trying to build uses the
 [http://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=autoconf-
 archive.git;a=blob;f=m4/ax_python_devel.m4 `ax_python_devel.m4`] macro
 from the autoconf archive but `python-config` looks like a better
 approach. I'll forward that to upstream.
