 The few unique entries seem to suggest that a patch for configure scripts
 exists here: http://gcc.gnu.org/viewcvs?root=gcc&view=rev&rev=141805, and
 that the problem seems to have been fixed with the GCC 4.4.0 release.

 So it might be worth to try the built with the last release of GCC 4.4.x…
 (or install a GCC 4.2.1 with the patched configure scripts)
