With this assertion message, I found similar bug reports against
 [http://code.google.com/p/iterm2/issues/detail?id=1765 iTerm2],
 [https://github.com/robbyrussell/oh-my-zsh/issues/695 a zsh plugin],
 [http://erlang.org/pipermail/erlang-questions/2012-November/070820.html
erlang], and [ticket:35668 MacPorts' ssh port]. There is also
rdar://12368202 ([http://www.openradar.me/12368202 Open Radar]) for this
 issue.

Even if this bug is in any way triggered by bash, a user space application
can't do much about this. A kernel panic in OS X needs to be addressed by
Apple. At best, file a [http://bugreport.apple.com/ bug report] against
the OS X kernel at and attach your [http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2546
 panic logs].
