 One other point, I'm guessing this should be reported upstream...
 unfortunately I'm not clear where upstream is (since replacing gcc with
 clang/dragonegg doesn't seem to fix the problem, I'm not sure where it's
 coming from; it doesn't seem to be present in gfortran on fedora). Any
 gurus listening?
