 from the logfile posted by Ryan at a corresponding issue at the gdl
 tracker.

 and IIUC, it the mentioned package it was the mismatch of std library
 headers that caused the problem. I'll keep searching for a solution (but I
 have no access to an OSX nor Mavericks right now).
