 I wonder if these `require_active_variants   fftw-3-single gcc4.` lines
 are needed. The compilers should use a common libgcc (or compatible),
 right? So a dependency on the this should be sufficient.

 I would also like to propose to use the `+gcc48` as default, and maybe the
 use of the "Fortran Recipe" if appropriate here.

 Last thing, the `INSTALL` states "Proj 4.7.1 or greater", so why not using
 `proj @4.8.0 (gis)` instead?
