Comment:

 For whatever reason, your `tar` program has been replaced with an old
 version designed for PowerPC processors. You need to fix this and put back
 the version that came with OS X 10.7.5 which is designed for Intel
 processors, for example by restoring from your backups or by reinstalling
 OS X. The relevant files to check would be /usr/bin/gnutar,
 /usr/bin/bsdtar and /usr/bin/tar (the latter should be a symlink to
 bsdtar).
