 john, your error is different from trg818's; please file a new ticket.

 I had wanted to update mono to 3.2.5, to see if that would fix the
 problem, however it was
 [https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=16431 packaged incorrectly]
 and is therefore not buildable; hopefully the next version will be
 buildable on Mavericks at least. If problems on other OS X versions remain
 at that time we can report them to the developers of mono. (You can report
 them there now, it's just possible they'll say it was already fixed in a
 newer version.)
