Comment:

 The mention of "FT" makes me wonder if the recent freetype 2.5.1 update is
 implicated. We already know freetype 2.5.1 causes inkscape to fail to
 build, which needs to be fixed, but crash on startup is a different
 problem which will need a different fix. Possibly just a rebuild, possibly
 more. Once I fix the first problem I'll see if I can reproduce the second.
