multiple times there. But I do recall that configuring MacPorts with a
prefix that contains symlinks causes problems. So you should configure the
MacPorts prefix to be the correct real resolved path on disk. So if the
prefix should be a folder "robbie" in a folder "NetUsers" on a secondary
drive called "ServerDrive" then configure MacPorts with
 "`--prefix=/Volumes/ServerDrive/NetUsers/robbie`". If ServerDrive is the
primary drive, i.e. "/", then configure with
 "`--prefix=/NetUsers/robbie`".

I don't know why either, but it's fairly consistent about showing up
multiple times between different ports. At a guess, it's because my home
directory is set to include the symlink because that is how OSX Server
 sets things up.

This machine is in-use, so rebuilding macports and everything that it has
installed is not an option. This symlink has not caused problems in the
past (with the exception of https://trac.macports.org/ticket/39864 which
was fixed), so I believe this is a soluble problem.
