 Apparently as part of Mavericks update the command line tools of Xcode
 were not functioning, in spite that it was set using the menu option
 within Xcode
 using the old way of
 xcode-select --install
 in the shell solved the issue
 It might be worthwhile to leave this comment for a while. I'm certain that
