 You still haven’t explained what you mean by “work”. It works fine. Since
 you ran `latex` without arguments, it started in interactive mode and
 expected you to enter the path to a source file. If you hit Return at the
 “`**`” prompt without entering anything, it will explicitly tell you what
 it’s waiting for.

 Again, what behavior are you expecting from running `latex` without
 arguments? Did you forget to pass the name of a file?
