 ok, I also had issues with the precompiled version of py-gobject3.
 I could not even do (you can try that as well):
 {{{
 from gi.repository import Gtk
 }}}

 Now I solved it by doing:
 {{{
 port uninstall -f py27-gobject3
 port clean py27-gobject3
 port install -s py27-gobject3
 }}}

 (ensuring that the package is actually built from source)
 and then retrying the python sample.
