 FYI, my "smartd.conf" is like the following:

 [/opt/local/etc/smartd.conf]
 /dev/rdisk0 -a       -S on -s (S/../.././02|L/../../6/03) -I 190 -I 194 -W
 4,45,50 -R 5! -m root at mydomain.com
 }}}

 To run smartmontools as a daemon, all you have to do is:

  $ sudo port load smartmontools

 There is no need to edit "org.macports.smartd.plist" by your hand. No need
 to launch "launchctl" directly.
