New description:

 ettercap isn't pkg-configing correctly on my system. It only builds
 correctly with something like

 {{{
     configure.cflags-append [exec pkg-config --cflags gtk+-2.0]
     configure.ldflags-append [exec pkg-config --libs gtk+-2.0]
 }}}

 IIRC last time I had an issue like this, it only showed up because I use
 gtk +quartz.
