Comment:

 Why is `[get_canonical_archflags]` being appended to `configure.cc` but `
 ${configure.cxx_archflags}` is being appended to `configure.cxx`? Why
 aren't both `configure.cc` and `configure.cxx` getting
 `[get_canonical_archflags]` appended?
