 I've got the same issue when selecting +ucs4 variant of python27.[[BR]]
 I checked the package that is download from macports.org and found that
 binary files(.so) in it are compiled with python27 with ucs2.[[BR]]
 I tried to install numpy using option s and it seems to work fine.
