The fact that the dependency on libiconv is undeclared is not really a
problem, since dependency gettext has a libiconv dependency, and that's in
fact the only reason why wget is linking with libiconv. The reason wget
links with libiconv directly, rather than letting it happen indirectly
through gettext, is an old Tiger bug (#18276) which I don't think even
applies anymore, now that we've switched Tiger to using MacPorts-provide
Apple gcc 4.2. I can look into that and remove it.
As to the stack overflow question you posted, I would refer the reporter
to ProblemHotlist#libiconv-version
