Comment:

 sympa actually starts 5 separate daemon processes and provides a standard
 init.d script to start and stop these thus startupitem.executable isn't
 appropriate.  There were also a few bugs in the provided script which I've
 fixed.

 Startup item specification corrected in r129347 so that it correctly uses
 the provided script.

 Works for me.  Turned out to be a lot more involved than I expected.
 Doubt this ever worked before.
