 Thanks Ryan!

 With the packages updated and available it built OK.

 I've followed the instructions for libiconv forced update since a number
 of other ports also crapped out in the build with the similar error.

 While I did upgrade from ML to Mav. about 2-3 months ago, I did a clean
 install and installed MacPorts fresh too.  It makes no sense to me how
 libiconv ended up with an older version.
