 Still, that's not an excuse for making inefficient programs. Yes, it's
 2014, but I still wonder why it takes so much time to run "`sudo port
 selfupdate`", even though way more annoying part is that "`sudo port
 uninstall foo`" takes "forever" without any good reason (`sudo port
 install foo` is a lot faster). Sometimes I then try to keep uninstalling
 ports and it's soooooo annoying that I need to wait a couple of minutes
 between running two commands, so that I forget in the meantime what it was
 that I wanted to do in the first place.

 There are a lot of other commands in MacPorts that take way too much time
 for my taste (`port list ...` being one of them). Being in 2014 should be
 merely an excuse for having a lot of tool available to speed things up.

 (The fact that my browser happily consumes 6 GB of ram even when I close
 the majority of the windows is also not excusable by the fact that we'll
 be soon in 2015 ...)
