New description:

 Mac OS X 10.6.8 with Xcode 3.2.6

 I need GILDAS for reduction of astronomical data, but the build fails.
 Help appreciated!

Comment:

 We should see if updating the port (#46172) will help. If not, we may need
 to blacklist older compilers like gcc-4.2.
