 Oh, I responded to your previous comment, but it now looks like for some
 reason it got removed...

 Anyway, all I said was that cleaning the port didn't work, and neither did
 cleaning anything that depends on it, probably because the port isn't
 installed anymore in the first place.
 I finally fixed this problem a few days ago by re-installing OS X and then
 trying to install tiff again. Now everything seems to be more or less
 functional.
