 Thank you very much.  As a workaround I have installed gtk-doc 1.18:
 {{{
 svn co -r 115261
 http://svn.macports.org/repository/macports/trunk/dports/gnome/gtk-doc
 cd gtk-doc
 sudo port install +python27
 }}}
 That allowed me to install everything else.
