 I am having similar troubles.  I am running mavericks 10.9, trying to
 install atlas from macports.  I first tried with gcc48 and left it for
 hours and didnt work.  Then tried with gcc 47 and still took a couple
 hours with nothing.  I cancelled and cleaned everything up but I dont know
 what to do.  Seems like each time it also takes a lot of space on my
 computer that I can not recover.  I heard mention of a bug with clang33..
 how do I get clang34? wlll that fix it?
