Comment:

 The hang probably occured because the port-installation script runs
 selfupdate (which establishes an rsync network connection, which might
 have blocked for a long time).

 If you can verify that no other instances of MacPorts are currently
 running, you can just delete the lockfile that causes this message. If
 you're not sure, a reboot should help.
