 The upstream bug's patch
 (http://subversion.tigris.org/nonav/issues/showattachment.cgi/1291/svn_1.8.x_darwin_unicode_precomp.patch)
 is what genuinefafa tested and said it didn't work.

 leo - can you confirm that that patch is working for you? I've updated the
 url in the ui_warn for that variant (in r115454)
