 Ticket #41926 involving a build problem with TAO (a product built on top
 of ACE) was resolved by omitting directories which are not relevant for a
 production installation. This has the side-effect of greatly reducing the
 build time of the distro.
 If we omit irrelevant directories from the ACE build we achieve a 60%
 reduction in build time (11 minutes to 4 minutes on a 2013 MacBook Air).
