In a TIA (transient ischemic attacks) is a part of the brains does not
 suddenly.
This is caused by a temporary blockage in a blood vessel.
You get a temporary loss of function, such as paralysis of the arm or leg,
 or trouble talking.
Within 24 hours the symptoms have disappeared, often within a half hour.
The probability of a TIA increases with smoking, diabetes mellitus,
 hypertension, obesity or high cholesterol.
After a TIA, you have an increased chance of a new stroke.
In order to prevent a (next) TIA drugs and controls are required.
 What is a TIA?

In a TIA part of your brains get temporary lack of blood. As a result,
certain brain cells work just as well or not at all. You will then sudden
loss of function, such as paralysis of the arm, a crooked mouth or
difficulty speaking. These deficits can last minutes to hours (usually 1-5
minutes). Then the symptoms disappeared. TIA stands for transient ischemic
attack . Loosely translated, this is a temporary blood flow disorder "or
 a" transient stroke.

 How is a TIA?

In a TIA flows temporary lack of blood supply to part of your brains. This
may be due to narrowing or blockage of your arteries.

In the course of your life, your body is aging. That includes your
arteries. Possible effects of aging that are:

 narrowing of the blood vessels
clots that stick to the vessel wall
 damage to the vessel wall
This is called a bad condition of the arteries. Such bad condition
increases the risk of a TIA or stroke.

Factors that indicate additional risk of narrowing or blockage of your
 arteries are:

 smoking
 high blood pressure
 high cholesterol
 excessive alcohol gebuik
 diabetes mellitus
 overweight
 lack of exercise
certain hormone treatment for menopausal symptoms or contraception
 migraine with aura
use of drugs such as ecstasy and cocaine.
Sometimes it is an irregular heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation) is the
cause of blood clots in the heart. There may be a piece of thrombus (blood
clot) and releasing stuck in a smaller vessel. Thus, there is a closure
 arise.

What are the symptoms of a TIA?

The symptoms of a TIA vary by person. This depends on the location in the
brains where the TIA takes place. Each area of the brain has its own task.
For example, there is, for example, a specific region of the brain for:

 the muscles in an arm
