 The clean command requires the port to be cleaned.

 Please try a clean attempt and attach the log file if it fails:

 $ sudo port clean octave
 $ sudo port selfupdate
 $ sudo port install octave +atlas+docs
 }}}
 In the future please use WikiFormatting and don't forget to Cc the
 maintainer and fill in the port field.
