 I just pushed r116266, which will hopefully take care of at least part of
 this issue, maybe all of it. Please do:
 {{{
 sudo port clean octave
 sudo port selfupdate
 }}}
 and then try installing octave (if not already installed) or updating
 octave (if already installed).
